A nine-year-old girl is being treated in Makarios Hospital after being bitten by a viper in Paphos.

It is the second case of a viper biting a child within a few days after a six-year-old boy was bitten last week.

According to the girl’s family, the viper was at a window of the room in which the girl was playing on Sunday. The family cat saw it, attacked it, and bit it and then threw it away. Unfortunately, the snake fell on the little girl and bit her.

The girl was transferred to the Paphos general hospital where she was given a serum.

Then she was transferred by ambulance to the Makarios hospital. According to the doctors the girl is not in any danger.

Each year the hospital has to deal with about four cases of snake biting.
