Accountant remanded in embezzling case

Limassol district court

A 57-year-old accountant was remanded in custody for eight days by Limassol district court on Thursday on suspicion of embezzling some €315,000 from the construction company she worked for.

The woman was arrested after suspicions arose that she had allegedly forged over 270 cheques between August 2019 and this month, which she cashed and took the money.

Police told the court they still had 24 statements to take as well as investigate where the stolen property ended up.

The woman’s defence did not object to her remand.
