Coronavirus: no deaths, 165 people test positive on Sunday (Updated)

The health ministry announced there had been no new deaths from Covid-19 but said 165 people tested positive from 14,008 PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of 1.18 per cent.

The death toll remains at 456 since March 2020.

There are 240 people in hospitals of whom 84 are in serious condition. Of these 41 are intubated. The ministry said 82 per cent of people in hospitals were unvaccinated.

Of the 14,008 tests done on Sunday,  6,164 were PCR and 7,844 were rapid tests as follows.

by the antigen rapid test method, 165 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, which resulted as follows:

  • 14 from 384 samples taken through contact tracing
  • 4 from 4,204 samples taken at airports
  • 37 from 1,272 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 14 from 194 samples processed at hospital labs
  • 96 from 7,670 samples tested at private labs and pharmacies

There was no free public testing for special groups on Sunday due to the holiday.
