Man shoots at neighbour’s home because he’s annoyed by noise

A 46-year-old man in Nicosia was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning after shooting at his 75-year-old neighbour’s home.

According to police, the 75-year-old was doing some works in his Agios Dometios home and the sounds annoyed the 46-year-old so he took his G3 assault rifle and started shooting at both the house and parked vehicle of his neighbour at around 2:30am.

Police quickly arrived to the scene after being notified about the incident and found the 46-year-old on his balcony with his rifle in hand. He handed over his rifle and ammunition to officers right away and admitted he shot at his neighbour’s home and vehicle because he was annoyed by the sounds his neighbour was making over construction work.

Officers found four rifle shells at the scene and said the house entrance and vehicle of the 75-year-old man were damaged by the shooting.

The 46-year-old was remanded for eight days at Nicosia district court.

Investigations continue.
