Donation of €320,000 from the NGO Tech Island to an event at Odou for the support of the fire-affected areas

Limassol, Cyprus – 04/09/2021. In the charity event Become the Tree of Life – You which took place at Odou village last Saturday, which aimed to encourage and revitalize the morale of the residents of the areas affected by the devastating fires of last July, but also to support and regenerate the area, Non-Profit OrganizationTech Island participated.

The Board of Directors of the NGO Tech Island, was represented by the member of the Board of the Organization Mr. Stylianos Lambrou, who proceeded with a short greeting.

In his greeting, Mr. Lambrou, pointed out the practical solidarity of the Member companies of the Organization for the support of the fire-affected areas and their inhabitants, and proceeded to announce one of the many actions that have been paved for the support and reconstruction of the affected areas and residents.

More specifically, Mr. Lambrou announced the financial support of a sum of €320,000 to support fifty-four (54) students that come from the fire-affected Communities of Odou, Melini, Eptagonia, Arakapa, Oras and Agioi Vavatsinias, as well Organization of fruit Producers ‘Vasiliki Gi’. More specifically, Tech Island offered a check for €5,000 to each one of the students, while at the same time offered a sum of €50,000 to support the Vasiliki Gi Organization.

Furthermore, Board Member Mr. Alexey Gubarev stated: “One of the pillars of our organization’s social responsibility is to be supportive of the communities where we live and operate, and as such, we are pleased to be able to assist the people who find themselves in this difficult situation because of the results of the fire. It is our hope that our efforts will assist the surrounding areas that were displaced by the fires, in the process of getting their lives back to normal.”

At the event, the President of DISY Mr. Averof Neophytou, gave a short greeting, where he made a special mention of Tech Island, stating: “It is this sense of social responsibility that is being put into practice, and an example that everyone should follow. A model-example of Tech Island, because the businesses of our country but also the companies that found their home in Cyprus, have also their own obligation that must be expressed in actions through social responsibility.”

It is highlighted that from the first moment after the fire, Tech Island announced a significant assistance raised from contributions of its Member companies, by raising an amount of €900,000 which will be allocated for supporting the fire-affected areas and their residents in a series of actions. The members of Tech Island who made a donation to collect the above amount are:
