Coronavirus: One death, 117 new cases on Monday (updated)

The health ministry on Monday announced one death and 117 new Covid-19 cases out of 63,823 PCR and rapid tests, with a positivity rate of 0.18 per cent.

There are 65 patients with Covid-19 in hospital, 24 of whom in serious condition, including 13 who are intubated. Of the hospitalised patients 56.53 per cent do not have a vaccination history.

Monday’s death of a 75-year-old man in the ICU of Nicosia General Hospital brings the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 555 with an average age of 76.4.

Nine of the new cases were passengers at the Larnaca and Paphos airports.

Another three were people found positive through contact tracing, 27 who got PCR tests  privately, 60 who got rapid tests privately, and five samples processed in state hospitals’ labs.

The rest concern 12 cases found positive during the rapid tests carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry. These concern three people found positive in the Nicosia district out of 2367 tests, three in Limassol (986), none in Larnaca (748), two in Paphos (472) and one in the Famagusta district (148). One case was found positive during rapid testing at the airports.

So far 120,615 cases were recorded.
