Two drivers were found to be under the influence of drugs during checks carried out in Paphos on Saturday night, the police said on Sunday.

The 35-year-old woman and 40-year-old man were stopped by the Z team of the Paphos traffic police at about 9pm on Saturday on Makarios Ave and a few minutes after midnight on the Tombs of the Kings road while they were driving.

Both tested positive to a narcotest while the man also tested positive to an alcotest, with 43µg blood reading whereas the allowed limit is 22.

A charge of drug possession is also being investigated against the woman as a small amount of cannabis was found in her car.

The Paphos police reminded that driving under the influence of drugs is one of the man causes of serious and fatal traffic accidents.
