Coronavirus: One death, 99 people test positive on Sunday (Updated)

The health ministry on Sunday announced one death and 99 Covid-19 positives out of 38,627 PCR and rapid tests, with a positivity rate of 0.26 per cent.

The death concerned a woman aged 60 who died at Nicosia ICU.

There are 55 patients in hospital, 21 of whom in serious condition, including 10 who are intubated. Of the hospitalised patients 63.8 per cent do not have a vaccination history.

The total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic is 562 with an average age of 76.3 per cent.

Of the 38,627 tests on Sunday, 5,095 were PCR and 33,532 were rapid tests yielding 99 positives as follows:

• 9 from 65 samples taken through contact tracing
• 12 from 3,750 tests taken at airports
• 8 from from 915 samples taken through private initiative.
• 3 from 62 samples tested at hospital labs
• 29 from 14,724 tests in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
• 38 from 18,808 samples tested under the ministry’s free programme.
