Third arrest in Ayia Napa brawl case (updated)

A third 23-year-old man was arrested and remanded for six days on Tuesday in connection with a brawl in Ayia Napa over the weekend involving knives, rocks and an axe, police said.

The suspect is being held to facilitate police investigations into the case.

Two men, also aged 23, were remanded for seven days on Monday for the same case.

According to the police, several people were involved in a fight on Ayias Mavris avenue at around 3.30am on Sunday.

Police said that an axe, knives and rocks were used as weapons during the brawl.

As part of the investigations, police arrested a 23-year-old man who is currently being treated at the Famagusta general hospital under police guard.

A second 23-year-old man who appears to have been involved in the fight was also arrested and is being held in police custody.
