Coronavirus: Kiosk, 16 individuals booked for violating decrees

One business and 16 individuals were booked for violating coronavirus protocols in the last 24 hours, police said on Thursday morning.

According to police, the business concerned a kiosk, whose owner was working without a SafePass.

“The owner will appear in court because other offences were also recorded such as the lack of alcohol and tobacco permit,” a police spokesperson told the Cyprus Mail.

The fines came after 3,213 police checks, carried out between 6am on Wednesday and 6am on Thursday.

Most checks, 1,641, were conducted in the capital where three people were booked, while six people were fined in Limassol after 259 checks.

Four people were also booked in Larnaca after 497 checks, one person and one business in Paphos following 161 inspections and two people in Famagusta after 344 checks.

No violations were reported by officers in Morphou, traffic, marine and port police.
