Coronavirus: No deaths, 89 new cases on Sunday (Updated)

The health ministry on Sunday announced 89 new Covid-19 cases, out of 38,139 PCR and rapid tests, with a positivity rate of 0.23 per cent.

No deaths were recorded.

There are 63 patients in hospital, 21 of whom, in serious condition, including eight who are intubated. In total 55.5 per cent of hospitalisations concerning patients with Covid-19 are people who are not vaccinated.

Six of the new cases were passengers at the Larnaca and Paphos airports.

Six were detected during contact tracing, and four were among samples processed in public hospitals’ labs.

Another 20 cases were people who got PCR tests privately and 27 who got rapid tests privately.

The remaining 26 cases were among the rapid tests carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry. One of these was among tests in closed structures. Nine cases were detected in Nicosia out of 7,326 tests, five in Limassol (3,559), two in Larnaca (3,024), and nine in Paphos (2,164). No cases were detected in the Famagusta district out of 1,139 tests.

So far 123,357 cases have been recorded.

The total number of people who died from Covid-19 so far is 568.
