The Health Insurance Organisation (HIO) on Wednesday alerted the public that a malicious email on booster jabs doing the rounds is misleading people into thinking it was sent by the organisation.

The organisation, which runs Gesy, said the email subject tag reading ‘Gesy: The third dose of mRNA type vaccine against Covid-19’ was not sent by them. The sender uses the email address [email protected], HIO said.

“Members of the public are urged to avoid opening this email and to delete it immediately to avoid possible phishing of users’ data or other unpleasant effects from possible infection of their computers with malware,” HIO said.

It also gave reassurances that due to the two-factor authentication process applied for access to the Gesy web portal, there is no immediate risk of the users’ personal data being leaked.

HIO said it has already informed the digital security authority about this incident.
