Pedestrians hit at Paphos crossing, woman aged 58 killed

A 58-year-old woman was killed by a car while crossing a road in Paphos on Saturday afternoon.

The man she was walking with, aged 70, was injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment in hospital.

According to police, at around 2pm Saturday the couple was hit by a car driven by a 28-year-old as they walked across a pedestrian crossing on Tombs of the Kings Avenue.

Both were taken by ambulance to Paphos hospital, but the woman, a Russian resident of Cyprus died a short time later, while the man, who was not identified, was admitted for treatment for his injuries.

Paphos traffic police are investigating.
