One death and 255 Covid-19 cases were announced by the health ministry on Saturday.
The death concerns a 71-year-old woman. This brings the number of deaths so far to 590: 377 men and 213 women with an average age of 76 years.
The new cases were among 50,980 PCR and rapid tests, with a positivity rate of 0.50 per cent.
There are 92 people with Covid-19 in hospital, 35 of whom in serious condition, including 15 who are intubated. In total 60.8 per cent of hospitalisations concern people who are not vaccinated.
Almost half of the new cases, 122, were among people who got tested at pharmacies and private labs.
Five were among passengers at the Larnaca and Paphos airports, and another case was among samples collected by public hospitals’ labs.
Sixty-five cases were people who got PCR tests privately.
The remaining 62 were detected during rapid tests carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry. One case among these was detected during tests in nursing homes in Nicosia. Another 27 cases were detected in the Nicosia district out of 5,422 tests, 13 in Limassol (2,086), 11 in Larnaca (2,151), nine in Paphos (1,105), and one in the Famagusta district (754).
The total number of cases recorded so far is 129,888.
