People eligible for the booster shot of a Covid-19 vaccine will be informed through an SMS, the health ministry said on Wednesday.

From December 1, individuals who meet the criteria for a third, booster dose will be notified via text message to arrange their appointment, the health ministry said.

Such messages are already being sent to people aged 70 and over.

People 30 and over who have received their second dose, or a single dose in the case of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, are eligible for vaccination with the booster jab against Covid-19. Six months must have passed from the completion of their vaccination regimen.

People who received the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines during the initial vaccination will receive the same vaccine for the booster dose. Individuals initially vaccinated with AstraZeneca will be able to choose an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer/ BioNTech or Moderna). People who have received the Johnson & Johnson can get vaccinated with either an mRNA technology vaccine or the Johnson & Johnson.

Appointments may be booked through the vaccination portal or people may go to the walk-in centres in all districts that operate from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6 pm and on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm.

People who are not registered in Gesy can get vaccinated at the walk-ins every Friday.
