Get crafty at series of Christmas workshops

Besides the Christmas markets and festive pop-ups that take over December’s events agenda, joining crafty workshops has also become a popular holiday activity. Numerous artists and small businesses have started offering workshops to share their craft creating fun, holiday-inspired experiences.

Christmas Wreaths Workshop

On Saturday, the event and design studio RSVP and concept store Istorja are hosting a Christmas wreaths workshop in Nicosia. From 10.30am until 12.30pm at Aigaio House just behind the Istorja store on Ermou street participants will learn how to create their own festive flower wreaths, guided by the RSVP creatives known for their stunning flower creations and arrangements.

Held in Aigaio’s beautiful courtyard, the two-hour workshop costs €60 and includes the wreath that participants will get to take home, coffee and snacks from Qboo bakery. Just a few spots are left so make sure you reserve a place as soon as possible.

Mardis Christmas Workshops

Another Nicosia brand, florists and event planner Mardis Florart is hosting a series of festive workshops this month and a few spots remain for their Christmas Table Arrangement Workshop on December 17, at 6.30pm.

In a beautiful old mansion in Nicosia, just off Laiki Geitonia, the Mardis ladies will show participants their tips and tricks on creating a charming and festive table for holiday dinners. The participants will make creations to decorate the dining table, while sipping on wine and listening to Christmas music. Of course, at the end of the workshop, they will take their creations home.

Festive Christmas Decorations

If you are up for a village visit, Troodos Art Club is organising a festive decorations workshop at Phini village on December 12. Hosted at Diodio Handmade Workshop and funded by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, this free workshop will focus on making Christmas ornaments from local natural materials and paper accompanied by warm mulled wine and a festive atmosphere. Two sessions are planned at 11am and 3pm, and both will be conducted in Greek and in English. A fun, laid-back workshop, suitable for all levels, beginners and advanced alike.

Slow Sew Festive Workshop

For a taste of something different, fashion designer Georgia Moditi is hosting a festive sewing workshop on December 18. Part of her Slow Sew Saturday workshop series with Anna Apostolou teaching participants how to upcycle material and support slow living, this upcoming workshop is her cosiest yet.

In this session, running from 10.30am until 2.30pm, participants will learn how to make a pillowcase, a felt brooch and a festive ornament, all for €50. Very few spots are available.
