Traffic police issue 265 fines in 12 hours

Police issued 265 fines in 12 hours for various traffic offences on highways, as well as in dangerous and blackspots in Nicosia and Limassol.

The traffic checks were carried out between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm on Wednesday, in the context of road collision prevention.

The majority of the fines concerned offences which have been proven to be the main causes of serious and deadly traffic accidents. Of these, 129 fines were for exceeding the speed limit, as well as another 15 for not using a seat belt and using a mobile phone while driving.

Furthermore, an additional 18 fines were made concerning vehicles that did not have a registration certificate and an MOT, and 56 concerned tachographs.
