Traffic builds up as drivers ignore calls and head to the mountains

Χιονόπτωση στα ορεινά και ημιορειν

Traffic congestion has been caused on roads leading to Troodos as those with unsuitable vehicles have ignored police advice and headed for the mountains.

The chaos picked up pace shortly before 12 noon on roads that are open only to vehicles with all four wheels or equipped with anti-skid chains.

Drivers of saloon vehicles headed towards Troodos are unable to continue their course through the roads Karvouna-Troodos and Platres-Troodos, thus causing congestion.Problems are particularly problematic at the junction of the Karvounas-Troodos road.
