Cyclist killed in Liopetri

A 30-year-old cyclist died on Monday evening after he was hit by a car in Famagusta.

According to the police, the accident took place at around 6.30pm on Monday on the Liopetri to Sotera road, when a car driven by a 43-year-old woman crashed into the back of the bicycle.

The 30-year-old rider, Parvinder Singh, from India, was transferred to Famagusta general hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police said the bicycle had no lights, while there were also no lights at that section of the road.

The driver of the car tested negative in an alcohol test, police added.
