Police booked 13 individuals and 16 establishments in 24 hours up to 6.00 am on Tuesday for breaching measures aiming to contain the spread of Covid-19. Most of the fines concerned SafePass violations.

A police spokesperson told the Cyprus News Agency that a total of 1,748 checks were carried out of which 477 in Nicosia that led to four individuals and 10 establishment managers being booked. In Limassol they conducted 115 checks and handed out fines to four citizens and three establishment managers and in Larnaca 496 checks led to three establishment managers being booked.

One individual was booked in Paphos after 110 checks and in Famagusta three individuals were booked after 389 checks. No violations were reported in the Morphou area after the 38 checks.

Traffic police carried out 111 checks and the Port and Marine Police 12. No violations were reported.

In Nicosia, five of the establishments booked concerned managers or employees who did not have a SafePass. Three were issued fines of €500, €750 and €1000. In two others employees did not have a SafePass and were fined €1500 and €500 while in three others employees were not wearing a mask and the establishment was fined €1,550, €500, €1,500.

In Limassol one business premise was fined €1500 and another two €500 each because employees did not have a SafePass. The same offence in Larnaca led to two businesses being fined €500 and a third €750.
