Edek chief says party not part of discussion for next president

Edek leader Marinos Sizopoulos

Edek president Marinos Sizopoulos said on Monday the party is not currently part of discussions concerning the presidential elections next year.

Speaking to CyBC radio, Sizopoulos said Edek does not want to engage in early election activities.

However, he stressed that his party is ready to carry out “constructive dialogues for potential credible cooperations with other parties.”

Sizopoulos said an internal party dialogue with members and friends of Edek is currently underway.

“The vast majority of people who are close to the party share the same opinion, meaning not to take hasty actions, which in the process may prove inapplicable due to the ever-changing election landscape,” Sizopoulos said.

In the most recent parliamentary elections, Edek lost fourth place to far-right party Elam.
