Two people died from coronavirus, as 2,491 new infections were detected from 41,302 tests, a positivity rate of 6.03 per cent, the health ministry said Friday.

The deaths concerned two women, aged 84 and 96 who died on Friday.

Meanwhile, there are 191 patients with the virus at the hospital, of whom 23 are in serious condition, including seven who are intubated.

About half of the patients, 51.84 per cent, were unvaccinated.

Another 13 people who stopped being infectious are still intubated in ICUs, the ministry added.

The new cases, which rose the total number of infections to 433,055, were detected from 39,465 rapid and 1,837 PCR tests.

Most of the new infections, 1,250, were detected after 18,465 rapid tests by the health ministry sites, while some 1,096 positives were traced after 19,246 rapid tests carried out privately.

After 919 rapid tests for contact tracing purposes, 94 infections were detected, while another 100 were traced after 822 PCR tests carried out privately.
