A 62-year-old man was remanded by the Larnaca court for seven days on Wednesday after being arrested on suspicion conspiracy to commit a crime, illegal import of drugs, illegal supply of drugs by another person and illegal possession of drugs after more than 6.5 kilos of cannabis was found in a post-office parcel.

According to police, the suspect had gone to Larnaca post office on Tuesday to receive a package, addressed to him, which was not handed over to him as he did not provide an ID to prove he was the addressee. Because the man’s actions were considered suspicious postal authorities decided to check the package.

Hidden in between some items of clothing, authorities found six plastic bags containing six 6.64 kilos of cannabis.

Police tracked him down and said he admitted he had gone to the post office to pick up the parcel.
