Windcraft Music Fest returns

andreas loucaides lou2714

Back to Katydata for another spectacular music festival dedicated to wind instruments, the Windcraft Music Fest returns on August 5. In its eighth edition, the festival will present an impressive international lineup with bands from Brazil, Germany, Italy, Israel, Germany and Cyprus.

Wind instruments will be featured in various musical genres: from world music and jazz to techno and dance music. Some of the highlights of the festival include a celebration of Maghreb music combining brass, Tunisian woodwinds and vocals and a DJ; a customised 24-stringed guitar that takes us on a journey from India to the Middle East; deep bass woodwinds and effects creating powerful beats that recall the legendary Berlin clubs and a full brass band setting up an analogue techno party.

Next to the concerts, the festival will include an interactive parallel programme with three-day seminars for winds and voice, workshops for seniors, adults and children, a family storytelling performance, exploration games, artistic installations and more.

Registrations for the seminars have already started. These include a workshop for wind instruments with saxophonist and clarinettist Yiannis Diskos (Imam Baildi, Mousiko Kouti ERT) dealing with the role of wind instruments in the Balkans and in the Greek traditional and art (entechno) repertoire, as well as a workshop for acapella vocal ensemble with Elena Xyda focusing on the musical traditions of our wider region. Each workshop includes a total of 15 hours of instruction and will conclude with a short presentation.

Placing music and artistic creation in the spotlight, the 8th Windcraft Music Fest will once again attempt to overcome any cultural and age boundaries, uniting people of all generations and different cultural backgrounds in a musical community aiming at interaction, exchange of knowledge and experiences and of course endless fun.
