Five fire trucks were on Tuesday night at the scene of a blaze which appears to be centred on the fifth floor of an apartment building on Makarios Avenue in Larnaca.
Fire services spokesman Andreas Kettis wrote late on Tuesday night that firefighters using respirators had entered the building.
The cause and extent of the fire is not immediately clear.
