Man arrested after police discover 452 fireworks

A 31-year-old man has been arrested after 452 illegal fireworks were found in his house, Limassol police said on Friday.

Officers carried out a search of the suspect’s home in Limassol on Thursday morning after receiving a tip-off.

They arrested the man after they found eight packages containing 452 fireworks.

He was taken to the Ayios Ioannis police station where he admitted to having imported the fireworks from abroad and to planning to use them in the near future, police said.

Later on Thursday, the man was charged in writing and then released pending his court appearance.
