Police investigation after two parcels containing drugs found at post office

Nicosia anti-narcotics police are investigating two cases of illegal importation of drugs, anabolic substances and pharmaceuticals through the post office, police said on Monday.

The first involves the import of what is believed to be LSD and a bottle containing 10ml of anesthetic. They were discovered on Wednesday at a post office in the Nicosia district during checks by customs officials in cooperation with the anti-narcotics police of parcels sent to Cyprus from abroad.

Police tracked down the recipient, a 25-year-old man, on Sunday and he allegedly admitted to importing it.

The second case concerns a parcel containing 79 pills and capsules, and a 10ml phial which, after checks by the pharmaceutical services, was determined to be anabolic substances. It was found at a post office in the Nicosia district and picked by police early on Monday morning. It too appeared to have been imported from abroad, the statement added.
