A series of new exhibitions are opening around the island, including at the O Gallery in Larnaca where works by the multi-award-winning artist Mice Jankulovski created in 2021 and 2022 are on show.

His exhibition Praise to the Black is his first solo showcase in Cyprus whereas abroad Jankulovski has presented his work in dozens of solo and group exhibitions in countries including Greece, Cyprus, China, Armenia, Serbia, Turkey, Macedonia, Slovenia, Italy, Poland. Until June 24, art lovers and guests will be able to explore his creations in Larnaca.

Also on in the coastal town until July 4 is an exhibition at the Pierides Museum – Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation. In Floor Paintings, artist Nikolas Antoniou made a new turn in his art, leaving behind the portrait theme with his art in the museum’s space presenting a number of aniconic paintings consisting of clean schematic surfaces, straight rods and spots, all made of wood.

In Nicosia, another exhibition by a solo artist is on this month at Korai Space. Canadian-born artist Scott Rogers is mainly interested in the paradoxical relationships between humans, nonhumans and land, utilising sculpture and expanded forms of publishing. His exhibition Appreciations will last until July 7.

Over at isnotgallery, Vrasidas Neophytou will present his solo exhibition titled BABEL from June 15 to July 7. Born in Tala, Paphos, the self-taught artist ‘kneads’ the materials of the earth. Using wood as his main material and focusing on folk tradition – keeping elements of it and deconstructing it at the same time – Vrasidas will present a series of animal-like sculptures. The installation of works, spread out on the gallery floor will feature various kinds of animal sculptures made with mixed media, presenting abstract animal sculptures, walking sticks, and birds of various kinds. He works with the roots and trunks of trees, combining them with shells, feathers, wood, and coloured pumpkins which are painted in a unique manner.
