Suspect arrested after shots fired at house in Moutagiaka

Police on Saturday said that a house in Moutagiaka, a village on the outskirts of Limassol, was shot at around midnight on Friday night, leading to the arrest of a 57-year-old man.

The man is suspected of having shot at the house, illegally possessing and carrying a firearm, as well as illegally possessing explosives.

Police said that they received a tip at ten minutes past midnight that someone had shot the front of a house in Moutagiaka, where a 61-year-old man and 56-year-old woman are staying.

Officers arrived at the scene where the suspect had reportedly driven by on a motorcycle, fired at the house and subsequently fled.

Preliminary investigations showed that three bullets hit the front window and ended up inside the house, while another bullet was lodged in the front wall.

The house has been cordoned off to allow the police to carry out further tests.

The man was arrested at around 5am after a warrant was issued.
