Remand after cannabis plants seized (updated)

A 36-year-old man was remanded on Tuesday after cannabis plants were found in his property, police said on Wednesday.

Acting on a search warrant, drug squad officers searched the man’s house in the Famagusta district and found 16 cannabis plants between five and 70 centimetres tall, 30 grams of cannabis, a grinding mill and special equipment for growing cannabis plants.

The suspect appeared before the Famagusta District Court on Wednesday where he remanded for six days.

Famagusta drug squad officers are continuing their investigation.
