British tourist found unconscious in Paphos hotel pool

A 21-year-old British tourist is in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Paphos general hospital after he was found floating unconscious in the swimming pool of a hotel in the Tombs of the Kings area.

According to Paphos police spokesman Michalis Nicolaou, the 21-year-old was found at 6.00pm unconscious in the pool of the hotel where he was staying with his parents. Lifeguards removed the man from the pool and he was taken by ambulance to Paphos hospital.

Nicolaou said that the 21-year-old is being intubated in the Intensive Care Unit Department.

The circumstances under which the young man lost consciousness are being investigated.
