Man arrested for Paphos pensioner theft

Police proceeded with the arrest of a 35-year-old resident of Paphos, to facilitate investigation into the case of theft, assault, and causing actual bodily harm.

The incident happened at noon on July 2 when the 86-year-old victim, also a resident of Paphos, was approached by a stranger asking for money. Subsequently, the stranger allegedly grabbed the 86-year-old’s wallet from his hands. The complainant resisted and then the stranger allegedly attacked and injured him. Thereafter the attacker managed to snatch the wallet back from the 86-year-old and run away.

Following the incident, the 86-year-old presented himself at Paphos general hospital, where he received first aid and was discharged.

Police examinations, resulted in testimony obtained against a 35-year-old man who was issued an arrest warrant and was taken into custody in the early hours of Tuesday to facilitate investigations.
