A fire that broke out close to Armenochori community in Limassol district at around 3pm on Friday was brought under control three hours later, authorities said.

The fire service responded, dispatching three vehicles from Limassol district’s fire stations and efforts are being made to protect residencies in the area.

In addition, four vehicles from the forestry department and one from the game and fauna service were also dispatched.

At the same time, four firefighting planes from the forestry department were making water drops.

The aerial vehicles have now left but all ground forces remain at the site to extinguish the fire.

The fire burned about three hectares of dry grass and wild vegetation.
