Yellow weather warning for Saturday

Cyprus is in for another sizzler on Saturday the met office said on Friday, as it issued another extreme high temperature warning.

The yellow alert is in force from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm on Saturday. The met office said that the maximum temperature is expected to reach 40C inland and 32C over the highest mountains.

In its regular weather bulletin for Saturday, the met office said Saturday will be mainly fine with temperatures rising to 40C inland, 37C on the north coast, 35C on the south and east coasts and 32C on the west coast and in the mountains.

Saturday evening will be mainly fine, but at dawn there may be increased local low cloud and patchy fog.

Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday will remain mainly fine and warm.

Temperatures will edge up Sunday, remaining above the seasonal average on Monday and Tuesday.

Maximum temperatures on Friday were Nicosia 40C, Larnaca Airport 35C, Limassol 34C, Paphos Airport 32C, Frenaros 36C, Prodromos 31C and Polis Chrysochous 29C. Humidity ranged from 25 per cent in Polis to 66 per cent at Larnaca Airport.
