A fact-finding mission to Cyprus will be carried out between September 19 and 21 by a delegation from the European Parliament’s Committee on Budgetary Control to investigate the use of EU funds by Cypriot authorities.
According to an official announcement, the committee will meet on September 5 to prepare for the mission.
CNA reported that the mission follows a briefing that the Parliament’s committee had from the Commission, and concerned systemic weaknesses in the use of EU funds by Cypriot authorities.
As part of the visit, MEPs will take stock of the weaknesses that exist and their possible causes.
According to the same information, the issues that may have arisen concerned amounts that, due to comparative figures, went unnoticed.
