An exchange of views on confidence-building measures (CBM) and a discussion of issues related to the work of the bi-communal technical committees took place in an online meeting between the negotiators of the Greek and Turkish Cypriot sides on Thursday.

Menelaos Menelaou and Ergun Olgun discussed ideas in a virtual meeting with the participation of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Cyprus, Colin Stewart.

A source told CNA that the discussion focused on reviewing the work of the bi-communal technical committees. He added that there was also a general exchange of views on CBMs.

The meeting lasted around an hour and a half.

It has not been decided whether a new meeting between Menelaou and Olgun will take place before the two sides go to New York in the second fortnight of September, where the General Assembly of the United Nations will take place.
