Unemployment benefit claims to be made online

As of September 19, people will be able to apply online to receive unemployment benefit, the labour ministry announced on Monday.

The ministry added that this is part of the strategy to digitise many of its services and the programme is being run together with the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy.

According to the announcement, maternity benefits, which are already online, will have to be filed solely online as of September 26.

To fill in the unemployment or maternity benefits application, people will have to make a profile on the government portal at https://www.gov.cy/en/.

As of October 3, people owing Social Insurance Payments through the SISnet system, will be able to pay overdue payments on the online system.
