Arrests at Paphos airport for travel document fraud

A man stopped at Paphos airport after attempting to depart the island using other people’s travel documents was on Monday remanded in custody for two days.

According to Paphos CID chief Michalis Nicolaou, he went to Paphos airport with a passport belonging to another individual in an attempt to travel into Europe.

The 33-year-old from Congo was arrested and on Monday taken before Paphos District Court, which remanded him for two days.

In a separate incident, two minors and another man were stopped at Paphos airport passport control on Friday after it was discovered their passports were forged. After receiving special handling due to their age, the children were transferred to a closed structure.
