Police conducted a raid on a building in Chlorakas overnight, where they arrested three people for illegally residing in the building, and charged four others for stealing electricity, authorities said on Saturday.

According to police, the during a raid based on a decree banning asylum seekers from living in the village, police discovered three individuals in violation of the decree.

Police informed the three individuals about the decree and requested they comply.

During checks on the same building by police and officials from the electricity authority, police found that four apartments in the complex were using stolen electricity.

The four tenants were taken to the Paphos police station, where they were and released.

During the raid, the other tenants grew angry over the checks by the electricity authority, and after the four tenants were taken to the police station to be charged, the remainder of the tenants threw rocks at officers and officials and damaged a police car.
