Nicosia issues final warning for unsafe buildings

Nicosia municipality on Thursday issued a final warning for several dangerous buildings in the city, calling on their owners to take appropriate measures.

In a written announcement, the municipality said several buildings have been deemed dangerous.

Two are in Ayioi Omoloyites, one at the corner of Kreontos and Papanikoli, and the other on Agchialou street, and two more are within the walls, one near the Trypiotis area and the other in the Ayios Savvas area.

The municipality called on the owners of these buildings to get in touch with its technical services at 22797484 and to take the appropriate measures to mitigate danger.

Otherwise, the municipality will be able to enter the building ex officio, taking all measures to remove the risk, and/or impose an administrative fine of up to €20,000, and/or initiate a criminal case.
