A Limassol nursing home is facing questions after an 87-year-old man suffering from dementia died after a fall, with investigations now pointing to him having fallen from the second floor.

Staff at the home found the man unconscious on Wednesday night in the courtyard and immediately called an ambulance, with doctors pronouncing the man dead upon his arrival at hospital.

An autopsy carried out by state pathologists pointed to the man likely having fallen from the second floor, raising the question as to what measures were in place to prevent such an incident.

Police announced that they are not investigating any criminal action but that their checks are ongoing.
