Speaking to the veterinary association will help form a more holistic approach to issues related to the field, presidential candidate Andreas Mavroyiannis said on Monday following a meeting with its head and members.

“We got the chance to exchange views on issues within the field of animal husbandry, health in general, and our perception of the role of the primary sector in the country’s economy,” he said of the meeting.

The meeting also covered the issues of stray animals and animal antibiotics, and the way they are being handled in the private and public sectors, while also discussing ways of implementing European directives.

Mavroyiannis said he was happy with the discussion, “which will help us to form a holistic approach to these issues, which touch on fundamental principles and concepts that should govern the development of our country”.

Veterinary association head Nektaria Ioannou Arsenoglou echoed his statements, saying the discussion was vital in forming “solutions for the future”.

Mavroyiannis also visited the integrated waste management facilities unit in Kosi.
