Nicosia’s proposal to reconstruct and restore Ledra and Onasagorou streets and sidewalks has landed in the top 20 proposals submitted as part of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative, the municipality announced on Monday.

The project will receive technical support for 12 months from NEB experts.

The help will be focused on the principles of sustainability, such as the promotion of climate goals, circularity, zero pollution and biodiversity.

Help will also be given on aesthetics and specific actions to increase the quality of experience and style beyond functionality, and inclusion, by promoting the appreciation of diversity, accessibility and affordability.

A key value for the project is follow a bottom up approach, where all involved parties will participate.

Nicosia municipality has already held some initial meetings with the experts, while public consultations will be held early in 2023.

The project is named: LEDSROAR – Ledras and Onasagorou: Regeneration of pedestrian streets and restoration of Building facades.
