A poetry collection in the Cypriot dialect has been published in braille for the first time, the local organisation for the blind announced on Thursday.

The publication followed an initiative by author Cosmas Economou, who proposed his poetry book ‘Periloes me sevos’ was published in braille. His suggestion was accepted by the Pancyprian organisation of the blind and the collection was printed in ten copies which were distributed to the members of the organisation.

More copies will be printed at a later stage for the libraries in Cyprus and Greece as well as for the general public who is interested in reading this collection or simply having it in their personal library.

This initiative is supported by the CEO of Thimonia bakeries, Christos Tsissios who recently handed over a cheque to the chairman of the organisation to fund the transcription of the book in the tactile writing system.
