Man arrested for child porn

A 34-year-old Nicosia resident has been arrested in connection with child pornography following information by Europol, police said on Monday.

The information suggested that users of an account on a social networking platform uploaded and sent child sexual abuse material.

Investigations led to the 34-year-old man and officers carried out a search in his house. They found a mobile phone which was confiscated for further examination.

After his arrest, police found the man had also been staying in the country illegally since his residence permit had expired.
