US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is to visit Cyprus in mid-February following the presidential elections, according to reports.
It is understood that he will first visit Nicosia and then move on to Athens and Ankara, with CNN Greece stating that his focus is to calm tempers in the region.
The first round of presidential elections in Cyprus are to be held on February 5, followed by the Turkish general elections set for June, and the Greek legislative elections in July.
Blinken’s visit would follow that of US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland who visited Cyprus in April.
