Man arrested with unexplained €10,000

A 31-year-old man was remanded for two days by Paphos court after he was arrested with thousands of euro he could not provide explanations for, police said on Monday.

According to authorities, the man appeared in Paphos district court on Sunday, after police found him driving on Akamantidos Street on at midnight on Saturday.

During checks, authorities found that he was driving a car without a licence, without insurance, and without any MOT. Police also gave him a narcotest and he was found positive.

Police said they also found €10,000 in his vehicle, along with 185 TL.

He was unable to explain where he got the money, so police arrested him for illegal property possession.
