Neighbours assist resident in catching burglar in Larnaca

A 54-year-old burglar was remanded for eight days after he was chased and caught by a resident with the aid of his neighbours.

According to police statement, shortly before 10pm owners of a Larnaca residence received an alarm notification that their home had been broken into during an absence.

Police arrived at the scene to find the burglar attempting to escape through a window, as well as one of the residence’s tenants.

The tenant together with neighbours, who had been alerted, chased down the burglar and immobilised him.

Police proceeded to arrest the 54-year-old and he is expected to appear before the Larnaca district court on Wednesday.

According to CyBC the man was known to police for previous offences and a second man is also wanted for the incident.
