Minister of Energy George Papanastasiou on Thursday is headed to London for a two-day meeting on energy and investments.

According to the ministry announcement, Papanastasiou is set to meet with senior executives from BP and ExxonMobil.

On Friday, the minister will participate in the Cyprus Investment Summit, part of the Economist’s annual conference.

Papanastasiou will present developments in the hydrocarbons sector to attendees and explain the government’s efforts to bring natural gas to the island.

In addition, he will later participate in a round table discussion on the topic of the island’s competitiveness, co-organised by the High Commission of Cyprus of Democracy in London, Invest Cyprus and the Cypriots in the City association.

At the discussion the minister will present the main policies promoted by the state in its strategy for attracting investments and talent.

The recently established business facilitation centre, operating out of the ministry, created in the context of licensing renewable energy projects, will also be presented.

During his stay the minister will also meet with a delegation of the UK National Cypriot Federation, as well as with the UK President of the Cyprus Business Council, Peter Drousiotis.
