Cypriot printmaker Hambis Tsangaris has been named among the winners of this year’s European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards, it was announced on Tuesday.

The EU initiative celebrates and promotes the highest standards in heritage interventions, research and education, as well the longstanding dedication of professionals and volunteers.

According to statement released by Europa Nostra, 30 winners from 21 different countries, including Tsangaris, “were awarded for their exceptional achievements in preserving cultural heritage.”

Tsangaris in particular “was awarded for his remarkable achievements in strengthening connections and understanding between communities and cultures in intercommunal Cyprus through his printmaking work.

“Through the art of printmaking, Tsangaris effectively preserved an invaluable part of Cyprus’ intangible heritage,” the statement said.
